Samsung Announces Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy 6.3, to be available in May

After few months of speculations and rumors Samsung has finally lifted the lid off the Galaxy Mega 5. 8 and also 6. 3. It is larger than  Samsung's huge 5. 5-inch Galaxy note 2, both mobile phones are entry level to mid-range with regards to features and specifications. The larger Galaxy Mega has a 6. 3-inch 720p Display, LTE, 8GB or 16GB internal storage space and a 1. 7GHz dual-core processor, as you move the 5. 8-inch Galaxy mega has a qHD display, HSPA, 8GB internal storage space, and a 1. 4GHz dual-core processor. Both the devices get get IR blasters for controlling television sets, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.5GB  RAM, a microSD slot for expansion, and are running the latest OS Android 4. 2 Jelly Bean.

Pricing for these devices are not yet known. but from the features we can anticipate them to possibly be cheaper as opposed to Galaxy note 2 and also Galaxy S4. Sony rumored to be making 3 new smartphones including a 6.4 inch one

Sony mobiles is going to launch too many models this year. They are really taking the android smartphone market by storm. They have already launched so many models this year and have lined up more for later this year. If the rumor mill is to be believed Sony is making three new Android smartphones which would be launched later this year. These smartphones have more or less the same confihuration. Two of these smartphones are said to be exclusively for Japan and their global launch is uncertain.

One smartphone is said to be for NTT Docomo and the other one is for AU. Both of these smartpphones have mediocre specs and there is nothing great about them. The Docomo handset is said to be Xperia A codenamed 'Dogo'. It has a 4.6 inch HD Display, its not confirm whether its an 720p HD Display or a 1080p Full HD Display. Xperia A might be powered by Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB Ram, 32GB Internal storage, 2300 mAH removable battery. The body is said to be dust & water resistant as the new Xperia ZL. It would also feature one seg, infrared and mobile wallet.

The AU model is Xperia UL codenamed 'Gaga'. It has a 5 inch 1080p Full HD Display with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB Ram, 32GB Internal storage with 2300 mAH, mobile wallet, one seg, infrared. It is water & dust resistant. In design it would be similar to the Xperia ZL. A global version of these devices might be released or they might just be Japan Exclusive.

There is another smartphone with an odd screen size of 6.4 inch codenamed 'Togari'. This screen size may be fairly new considering the current craze for 5 inch devices. HTC Sheds 'Quietly Brilliant' Tagline to adopt a bold approach

HTC has quietly shed its tagline 'Quietly Brilliant' for a more bold and broader approach towards its marketing strategy. HTC has not been able to make profit from its smartphone business. It has just 6% of market share in comparison with 39% of Samsung and 33% of Apple. Samsung and Apple are the only companies making profit selling mobile phones, others are incurring huge losses. With this new approach HTC wants to use tags such as 'Bold', 'Playful' and 'Authentic'. 'Bold' would signify its aggressive approach towards marketing new products, 'Playful' would mean features based on consumer demands. 'Authentic' would signify  its focus on innovation.

HTC CMO Ho further said that HTC would double its marketing budget upto 250% from this year. In the past poor marketing led to decline in sales and market shares of HTC. After the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4 HTC called it the next big flop by tweeting with the #thenextbigflop tag. It said the Samsung Galaxy S4 lacks innovation and Samsung has just spent big on marketing rather than innovation. HTC further said that its HTC One S is the best smartphone. HTC hopes to increase sales and revenue with the new ONe S. The One S was delayed due to components shortage. It would be available in the US at the End of April.

Samsung just released the Galaxy S4 last week and now a new set of images have surfaced online claiming to be of Galaxy S4 Mini. The Galaxy S4 has some unique features. Earlier Samsung had released the Galaxy S3 Mini compact version of its Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 mini was smaller in size than the Galaxy S3 and even the specifications were toned down. LG Nexus 5 Specs Leaked, Is this the Future Device?

Samsung To Release First Tizen Phone in Q3 2013

In an interview with Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s global head of mobile J. K. Shin revealed that Samsung will be releasing a Tizen based device in third quarter of 2013. Tizen has been in development for the last one year and much has been said and rumoured of it, including a rumour of a Japan unveil in first quarter.

Samsung is also in the process of merging the lightweight in-house OS BADA with Tizen and pick the good features off it to feed into Tizen. This will make Tizen a well-rounded OS for smartphones and smart home devices that will have taken enough time to develop and mature before launch. Samsung has had developers seeded with Tizen developer devices for over a year now, which goes to say they will surely have something tangible at launch.

J.K Shin did assert that Android will remain their number one OS even with the Tizen launch and said they like Android and wish to continue with good relations with Google. Samsung’s strategy according to Shin is to always work with multiple software companies.
